Fiberglass grating is often shortened to FRP grating.  This stands for fiberglass reinforced plastic grating.  Various types of resins are used to "wet out" glass fibers.  These fibers provide an extremely strong composite similar to the way steel provides strength to a concrete structure.

FRPG is an excellent alternative to metal where rust, corrosion or chemical attacks are problems.  With proper resin selection, FRPG is able to perform very well in many chemical or corrosive environments at an attractive cost.  The price of steel and aluminum have increased to such an extent recently that installing FRP has become a better choice. It is virtually maintenance free and due to its low weight and construction, very little manpower or equipment is needed to fit and install it.  This cuts back on labor cost as well as injuries or equipment mishaps during installation.
